CBD Champagne

Updated: May 24

Unless it's from the outside of France than it's just sparkling #CBD (do you KNOW how long I've waited to make that joke?)

It's not what we looked like, but it's what we FELT like and that's all that matters, right?

Nikki and I don't drink alcohol. I've been sober 5 years and her for 3, which is a long story for another time. We are, however, "California Sober", which is the funniest thing I've ever heard and simultaneously the best way to describe our situation. When I was first sober, I was so focused on controlling my addiction I didn't even think about being able to enjoy mocktails, let alone cannabis cocktails. Now that it's the future and you can buy liquid weed in stores, Nikki and I decided to try on our mixologist hats and we have to say, they fit quite well.

Allowing ourselves to relax at the end of the day with a cocktail in hand is a bit of a novelty for us. We worked on replicating alcoholic drinks with the correct flavor profiles so the taste is truly an homage to the original drink. Adding the CBD adds for a nice, mellow effect like a light buzz you would experience from champagne.

  • Grapefruit seltzer or soda (San Pellegrino makes a really good one)

  • Tonic water

  • CBD tincture or other digestible oil

  • Sparkling apple cider

  • Ice

  • Cocktail shaker or a large glass with a pouring spout to mix

  • Long spoon or something to mix with

  • Mint to garnish

Anyone who's been 12 knows that sparkling apple cider is the go-to substitute for alcohol and it continues to pull its weight in this recipe.

  1. Pour the sparkling apple cider into a cocktail shaker or a large glass

  2. Add your grapefruit seltzer or soda, using a 2:1 ratio with the sparkling apple cider (more cider, less grapefruit)

  3. Next use the tonic water to balance out the sweetness, we used the same amount as we did with the sparkling apple cider

  4. Drop in your CBD of choice at the right amount for you, we used two droppersful

  5. Fill your glass to the brim with ice to chill everything out and mix gently with a long spoon to integrate the ingredients

  6. If using a shaker, cap and pour into two glasses through the strainer or fill the cups from the mixing glass, holding back the ice with a spoon

  7. Garnish with a mint leaf if you'd like or enjoy plain

Et voilà! You now have a perfect, alcohol-free cocktail to enjoy during a celebration, on a lazy summer night, or drinking with friends without any of the negative effects of alcohol. Hooray for #CannabisCocktails! We can't wait to share more recipes as we continue brainstorming new ideas for these fun drinks.

Thanks for reading and see you out on the road!
